Reminder: Lee Zeldin Wants to Repeal New York’s Successful Red Flag Laws
NEW YORK – Governor Hochul today announced a major increase in the state’s expanded “Red Flag” law usage by law enforcement, touting a 93 percent increase in the last three months over the total number of orders filed in 2021. These orders are protecting New Yorkers from gun violence caused by individuals who pose a risk to themselves or others.
The facts are clear: Governor Hochul’s decisive action in ordering State Police to expand their use of Red Flag laws is already working to keep New Yorkers safe and prevent senseless gun violence.
Meanwhile, Lee Zeldin has promised to undo our progress and put New
Yorkers in harm’s way. He wants to get rid of Red Flag laws, allowing dangerous individuals to access guns and putting more guns in our communities.
“The majority of New Yorkers support commonsense gun safety legislation, and we can clearly see Governor Hochul’s actions working,” said Campaign Spokeswoman Jen Goodman. “Red Flag laws are saving lives and Lee Zeldin’s extreme agenda would put more guns on our streets and New Yorkers at risk.”
