NEW YORK – Six elected officials from New York City today announced their endorsement of Governor Kathy Hochul’s campaign for a full term. In the last week, Governor Hochul has received endorsements from two labor unions and 29 current and former elected officials.

“I am honored to have the support of so many dedicated public officials who are standing with me to continue the progress we’ve made on behalf of working families in New York,” said Governor Kathy Hochul. “Whether it’s improving public safety, rebuilding our economy, or addressing housing insecurity, my administration is taking a whole-of-government approach to address tough challenges and ensure every New Yorker gets a fair shake.”

Senator Brian Kavanagh, District 26

“Even as we struggle to put the COVID-19 pandemic behind us, we know that we also face huge longer-term challenges, like ending homelessness and ensuring all New Yorkers have access to housing that is safe, affordable, and sustainable. I’ve been proud to have the opportunity as chair of the Senate Housing Committee to work closely with Governor Kathy Hochul. Her steadfast commitment to ensuring that people are stably housed, her principled leadership, and her ability to work collaboratively are exactly what New York needs.”

Assemblymember Inez Dickens, District 70

“As a lifelong resident of the 70th Assembly District, I’ve been a tireless fighter for basic civil and human rights, social justice, wage equity, inclusion and diversity. My goal for Harlem has been to improve the quality of life of everyone in our community. That’s why I wholeheartedly endorse Kathy Hochul to be elected as governor of New York. During her time in office, the governor has been a fighter for Harlem and the state of New York. She’s protected housing, good-quality jobs, and will ensure that Harlem continues to move forward.”

New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson

“Kathy Hochul has been a force from her first day in office as our new governor. She’s taken bold action to protect our state from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and she’s helping New Yorkers who are struggling by delivering $200 million for food assistance and accelerating rent relief funds. She’s the kind of partner that New York City needs in Albany, and I couldn’t be prouder to enthusiastically endorse her for a full term.”

Manhattan Borough President and New York City Council Member-elect Gale A. Brewer

“Today marks almost four months since Governor Kathy Hochul took office and since that day she has hit the ground running, delivering on her vow to provide immediate results and make government work for all New Yorkers. That’s why I’m proud to endorse her for election as governor, and to be the first woman to be elected governor in our great state, the birthplace of the modern women’s rights movement. Governor Hochul has set a new tone in Albany, focusing on rebuilding trust and getting things done.”

New York City Council Member-elect Erik Bottcher

“In the short time since she took office, Governor Kathy Hochul has brought a new spirit of collaboration to state government. She has the skills and experience to lead us through this challenging time and into the future. I’m proud to endorse her for a full term.”

New York City Council Member-elect Julie Menin

“I am thrilled to endorse Governor Hochul as she is the leader we need for our state at this critical juncture. Governor Hochul has had an impressive two decades in public service and possesses a deep understanding of the unique issues that affect the different regions of our state. Our city still faces a high unemployment rate, struggling small businesses, and a once again surging pandemic. I know that Governor Hochul will be a great partner for me and the rest of the City Council to help lead New York out of this crisis and come out stronger. Whether it’s helping to extend our Second Avenue Subway, working to fix our East River Esplanade, or providing aid for small businesses, I look forward to working with Governor Hochul and delivering for New Yorkers.”
