Lee Zeldin is Still Palling Around with Extremist Groups Tied to January 6 Insurrection
NEW YORK – Just days after a House Select Committee hearing scrutinized the role of violent, right-wing extremist groups in the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol, Lee Zeldin campaigned with the Long Island Loud Majority (LILM) whose members attended the insurrection at the Capitol.
The LILM endorsed Zeldin for governor and he has frequently welcomed their support on the campaign trail, headlining LILM-sponsored rallies and appearing as a special guest on the group’s podcast “We Will Not Comply.” Zeldin even solicited support from LILM’s members in his campaign’s fraudulent petition scheme to get on the Independence Party ballot line.
Like Zeldin, the group perpetuated voter fraud conspiracy theories following the 2020 election and has repeatedly pushed Trump’s Big Lie.
At a rally on Sunday, Zeldin praised the group, referring to comments made at an earlier event, “And they asked me about Long Island Majority, and I said these people believe in good government, they love our country…we’re all here together as one team.”
“January 6th remains one of the darkest days in American history,” said Hochul Campaign Spokesman Jerrel Harvey. “New York voters deserve to know that Lee Zeldin is still proudly surrounding himself with the same extremist groups and fringe conspiracy theorists who attempted to undermine our democracy. Zeldin is making it crystal clear just how dangerously out of touch he is with New York.”
