Former Long Island Reps. Steve Israel and Tim Bishop Endorse Kathy Hochul for Governor

NEW YORK, NY – Governor Kathy Hochul’s campaign today announced the endorsement of two former Members of Congress, Representatives Steve Israel and Tim Bishop. 

Congressman Israel represented Nassau and Suffolk counties in Congress for sixteen years, retiring in 2017. As a member of Democratic leadership, he served as the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee. 

Congressman Tim Bishop represented New York’s 1st Congressional District for twelve years, serving the people of Suffolk County. During his tenure, Congressman Bishop was a fighter for working families and safeguarding New York’s environment, and he is a nationally recognized leader on higher education policy. He currently serves as a distinguished visiting professor at his alma mater the College of the Holy Cross.
