NEW YORK – Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez today endorsed Governor Kathy Hochul for a full term. Representative Velázquez is the fourteenth member of the New York State Congressional delegation to endorse the governor, joining Representatives Antonio Delgado, Grace Meng, Hakeem Jeffries, Ritchie Torres, Adriano Espaillat, Carolyn Maloney, Sean Patrick Maloney, Gregory Meeks, Kathleen Rice, Paul Tonko, Jerry Nadler, Brian Higgins, and Joe Morelle.

Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez represents New York’s 7th Congressional district, which includes parts of Brooklyn, Queens, and the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Elected to Congress in 1992, Representative Velázquez is the first Puerto Rican woman elected to the House of Representatives. The congresswoman is the Chairwoman of the House Small Business Committee, a senior member of the Financial Services Committee and a member of the House Committee on Natural Resources.

“I am honored to receive this endorsement from Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, who has long been a champion and a trailblazer for New York’s most vulnerable,” said Governor Kathy Hochul. “Whether it’s lowering costs for working families, supporting our small businesses, or advancing equality for every New Yorker, I am proud to have Congresswoman Velázquez on our team as we move New York forward.”

“I’m no stranger to breaking barriers and I know how hard it can be as a woman in politics to shatter the status quo,” said Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez. “Now more than ever we need women in power who are strong leaders and who can deliver results for New York families. Kathy Hochul is one of those women and I am proud to endorse her for a full term as Governor of New York.”
