Governor Kathy Hochul’s Campaign Releases New TV Ad, “Keeps Happening”
NEW YORK – Governor Kathy Hochul’s campaign released a new TV ad, “Keeps Happening,” highlighting the governor’s nation-leading action to strengthen New York’s gun safety laws and save lives.
While Washington fails to act, Governor Hochul is taking swift action and doing everything in her power to keep guns off New York’s streets and out of the hands of dangerous people. Just this week, Governor Hochul signed 10 bills to combat gun violence, raising the age to 21 to buy semi-automatic rifles, tightening red flag laws, requiring microstamping of bullets, and closing loopholes to protect New Yorkers.
“KEEPS HAPPENING” TRANSCRIPT:
Governor Kathy Hochul: It keeps happening, shots ring out, flags come down and in Washington, nothing changes.
But in New York, we’re taking action.
Tightening red flag laws to keep guns away from dangerous people,
and raising the age to buy semi-automatic weapons.
We’re microstamping bullets so it’s easier to catch criminals,
and closing loopholes so firearms can’t be built to evade the law.
There’s more to do. But if Washington won’t act to keep people safe, I will.
