IMPAC-NY Endorses Governor Kathy Hochul
NEW YORK – IMPAC-NY today announced its endorsement of Governor Kathy Hochul for a full term. IMPAC supports candidates who work to meaningfully combat sexual and gender-based violence, sexual harassment, and misogyny by empowering survivors and furthering structural change.
IMPAC-NY praised Governor Hochul’s work in supporting survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, strengthening New York’s nation-leading sexual harassment prevention policies, and amending the New York State Human Rights law to provide further protections for those facing discrimination or harassment.
“From the moment I took office, I vowed to change the culture by doing everything in my power to ensure survivors are safe, respected, and empowered, and their abusers are held accountable,” said Governor Hochul. “I am honored to receive this endorsement from IMPAC-NY and to continue working together to protect New Yorkers in a comprehensive, effective way.”
“Governor Hochul is a leader who meaningfully combats sexual and gender-based violence, sexual harassment and misogyny,” said the IMPAC-NY Board of Directors. “Throughout her career she has consistently demonstrated a commitment to survivors and those with the highest risk for experiencing violence. This means providing economic opportunity, protecting reproductive freedom, expanding rights for marginalized communities, and allocating state and federal funds for victims services. Expanding civil remedies for victims is paramount for accountability and for changing culture. By standing with advocates at the launch of the Child Victims Act in 2019 and by signing the Adult Survivors Act into law earlier this year, Governor Hochul showed survivors that she unequivocally has their backs. By endorsing Kathy today, we want to show that New Yorkers have her back too.”
