New Text Messages Between Mark Meadows and Lee Zeldin Confirm Zeldin’s Larger Role in Throwing Out Election Results

NEW YORK – In November 2020, a day before the presidential race was called for Joe Biden, New York Republican gubernatorial nominee Lee Zeldin sent former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows text messages with his plans to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

In the text exchange obtained from the January 6th Commission, Zeldin sent two comprehensive ideas to Meadows, seeking to discredit the 2020 election results before they’d even been announced and spread Trump’s baseless conspiracy theories.

Zeldin’s text to Meadows:

Yesterday, Zeldin earned an endorsement from disgraced former President Donald Trump after swearing fealty to the president and becoming one of Trump’s “strongest allies” and top defenders in Congress.

Zeldin voted against certifying the 2020 election, voted against the creation of the January 6th commission, and suggested as recently as this past summer that we’ll “never know for sure” who actually won the presidential election.

“Lee Zeldin’s aspirations to be Donald Trump’s number one ally are never ending. Zeldin’s text messages with Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows reveal that he played a central role in the former president’s concerted effort to throw out the 2020 presidential election results,” said Campaign Spokesman Jerrel Harvey. “Zeldin’s record is already dangerous and disqualifying, and these new revelations show the extent of his involvement in pushing Donald Trump’s baseless conspiracy theories.”
