NEW YORK – Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh today endorsed Governor Kathy Hochul for a full term, praising Governor Hochul’s record of public service and commitment to delivering results for Central New York. Walsh became the first Independent mayor of Syracuse in more than 100 years after taking office in 2018.

“Mayor Ben Walsh has been an effective and reliable partner for my administration since day one,” said Governor Kathy Hochul. “From transformative infrastructure projects like I-81 to revitalization efforts in the heart of the city, Mayor Walsh and I have worked collaboratively together to accelerate Syracuse’s continued resurgence. I am honored to have the mayor’s endorsement and look forward to building on our progress to bring new opportunities and prosperity to the people of Syracuse and Central New York.”

“Governor Kathy Hochul has consistently proven she cares about Syracuse and the people of Central New York. From her time as a student at Syracuse University to her work as Lieutenant Governor, she’s developed a deep understanding of our city. That’s not something I take for granted,” said Mayor Ben Walsh. “And from acting on our concerns about public safety to providing state support for economic development initiatives, Governor Hochul has been a reliable partner to Syracuse. I’m pleased to endorse Governor Hochul for a full term and look forward to continuing our work together to strengthen Syracuse and all of New York.”
